Today, my mom and I decided to eat at the Jade Palace here in this small town. I’ve heard that the basement is haunted, but it’s just a saying I hope. There was a huge green tinted window that drew out from the building, sort of like a green house window. Behind it was a shadow of a bench and as we passed by it to get into the building, we saw a shadow of a lady standing by the window as if she was just looking head on out.
As I walked through the first doors into the building, I tripped of a small step level of flooring and noticed there was no lady at the window. However, there was a lady by the bar area greeting us in and telling me to watch my step. The whole place was dim with very dark wood. It sort of gave me an eerie feeling, reminded me of the Asian horror movie “Tale of Two Sisters”.
Above the ceiling hung small and huge old Chinese lanterns, remind me of the 20s Western Chinese style. The windows were up taller and some stained with a tint of red.
Inside, sat one old Caucasian lady eating and reading, but she soon left after a couple of minutes. My mother decided to use the restroom, but she came out complaining that the place needs more lighting. So I asked her if it was freaky in the bathroom. All she told me was that the light in the restroom was too dim, like you can barely see it.
It seemed like the lady who greeted us and served us was the only one there. She kept looking at me often, but she does not smile at all. Her posture is very straight up and gentle though. I kept feeling like something was behind me, perhaps I was just letting my mind run too deep in the whole eerie feeling of being there. My mom and I said the lady must have brought her ancestors with her. Anyways, on the way out of the eerie restaurant, my mother tripped down the small step level of flooring. On our way out to the car, I noticed the lady was looking at us through another window. The second she noticed that I saw her, she quickly looked down, looking like she was cleaning off food from the plates. I don’t think I can ever eat there again. The whole place just freaks me out in general. o.O It felt like something was hidden in there.
